LINCOLN – With potentially severe winter weather in the forecast, LES reminds customers to prepare in case they experience power outages.
Before a storm, LES advises customers to locate their service panel and learn how to operate their main circuit breaker. LES also urges customers to prepare a winter emergency kit including items such as a blanket, disposable hand warmers, nonperishable food, a manual can opener, bottled water, an LED flashlight, a first aid kit and a battery-operated or wind-up radio to keep up on outage information.
If you or someone in your home depends on power for respiratory or mobility purposes, LES recommends having a backup generator or an emergency backup plan in case power is out for extended periods of time. In life-threatening situations, please call 911. In the event of a power outage, customers should report their outage online at LES.com/report or through LES PowerLine, the utility’s outage call management system at 1-888-365-2412. PowerLine recognizes the phone numbers customers provide and matches them to the service address, so please ensure your information is up-to-date before a storm by calling 402-475-4211. When outages occur, our line technicians work hard to restore service as quickly as possible.
LES performs maintenance activities year-round to help prevent outages by trimming trees, replacing underground cable and ensuring equipment is operating properly. We monitor the weather closely and will have extra crews on-call if the threat of severe weather arises.
