Duct installation - preparation for
rebuild

LES will launch this 15-year project
later in 2012 and install duct underground, adjacent to existing,
aging cable. The duct will allow for quick replacement as the cable
approaches the end of its useful life. More details to come.
Downtown/Haymarket
Several projects are planned for the
Haymarket area in preparation for its redevelopment.
- 8th to 9th, R to S streets –
Working with the developers regarding the relocation of existing
facilities and installing new facilitates for the new Marriott Hotel.
- 8th and Q-R streets area – Relocate overhead line
to underground.
Work underway.
- 8th & S streets area – Overhead to underground
distribution relocation from 8th-9th on S Street.
- 7th and N streets – Relocate transmission
pole in early 2012.
Work underway.
- Removal of distribution facilities in 6th-7th, N-O streets area
during 2012.
- LES is partnering with the Joint Public Agency to install conduits
for all underground distribution lines needed for the Core Area Road
Project. This contractor is responsible for road construction in the
rights of way and alley ways. By doing this, LES will relieve
construction congestion in the West Haymarket Arena and maximize the use
of LES crews. This road project is set to start in mid to late summer.
