Integrated resource plan
Overview
LES has
completed a
new integrated resource plan to
effectively serve LES’ growing
customer needs.
Consistent with LES’ priority to
effectively meet its growing
customer needs and in compliance
with a Western Area Power
Administration requirement, the
integrated resource plan will
help LES identify the mix of
resources to meet near- and
long-term consumer energy needs
in an efficient and reliable
manner with the goal of
maintaining low rates for its
customers.
LES held an
open house
and conducted an online survey
to gain input to identify the
energy-efficiency or generating
resource options
customers/owners preferred to be
studied as part of this
process. Options
included conventional resources
(coal, natural gas, nuclear,
etc.), renewable resources
(wind, solar, etc.), or the more
efficient use of existing
resources (home sealing and
insulation, lighting upgrades,
etc.).
Key elements of
the plan include quantifying
future resource needs, the
preferred portfolio of
supply-side and demand-side
resources to meet this need, and
an action plan that identifies
the steps we will take during
the next five years to implement
an initial plan.
LES
further
incorporated customer input into
the integrated resource planning
process through a second public
meeting/open house, covering the
related input data, assumptions
and initial results.
