LES to host public hearing on Southeast Reliability Project

LINCOLN – Lincoln Electric System invites the public to attend a public hearing for the Southeast Reliability Project, a new transmission line southeast of Lincoln. The public hearing will take place Jan. 24, 2017, 7-8 p.m. at Southwood Lutheran Church, 9300 S. 40th St. LES will discuss the project, including acquisition process and landowners' rights, and will listen to comments.

LES is constructing the new overhead transmission line to connect new substations to the existing power grid to improve system reliability and meet increasing customer demand in the southeast Lincoln area. The approved route was determined using information gathered from three open houses and ongoing public outreach efforts. The route will enable LES to relocate a portion of an existing transmission line onto the new transmission line. This will consolidate facilities and make way for the future South Beltway interchange with 82nd Street. Construction of the line is planned to begin in November 2017 and be completed in 2018.
