LINCOLN — Learn how you can help create an eco-friendly community at Lincoln Electric System’s ninth-annual Sustainable Living Festival, 9 a.m.-noon July 27, 2019i, in The Railyard.
LES’ signature summer event is free, family-friendly and hands-on. Community partners and LES are teaming up to demonstrate simple tips for saving energy and leading more environmentally friendly lives. New this year, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to get a preview of LES’ new educational, interactive tiny house — a recent collaboration with The Career Academy. When finished, the project will be a mobile education tool that gives the community an opportunity to more easily internalize information based on real-world demonstrations at events throughout the area.
LES has brought together over 35 community partners to engage with visitors on everything from composting to pollinators and solar power to recycling. Throughout the event, kids can try their hand at the Little Lineworkers Rodeo, eat solar-popped popcorn and play with some creepy, crawly composters while adults get an up-close look at electric vehicles, talk to their owners about EV ownership and take a test ride on some electric, pedal-assisted e-bikes. Plus, much more!
Organizers will be giving away a free, reusable bag to all in attendance. Other giveaways include an adult’s bicycle, kid’s bicycle, smart thermostat (one of several models eligible for the LES Peak Rewards incentive program), as well as STEM activity kits and tickets for local events.
