LINCOLN — Nebraska’s first large-scale electric vehicle ride and drive event will be held in Lincoln Saturday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Haymarket Park, 403 Line Dr. Circle. Presented by Lincoln Electric System with the support of the Nebraska Environmental Trust, the LES EV Ride + Drive will serve as the capstone event for LES’ Sustainable Living Week, July 19-24.
“As growing numbers of people select electric vehicles, public power utilities like LES are here to keep our customers engaged and informed,” said Marc Shkolnick, manager of Energy Services at LES. “LES’ EV Ride + Drive gives people the chance to see these vehicles up close, talk to owners and get behind the wheel for a test drive.”
Eventgoers will have the opportunity to test one of nine vehicles and view the over 15 EV models in attendance, including models from Tesla, Volkswagen, Chevy, BMW and Ford. They’ll also get a chance to talk to owners and dealers about owning an EV. The event will also feature presentations on “EV-rything about EVs” from area experts, local food trucks and booths from community partners featuring tips and information on living more sustainably.
Parking is available at the event and electric buses from Lincoln’s StarTran fleet will shuttle visitors from Canopy Street in the Haymarket to Haymarket Park.
“This will be a special event for our community and marks the first of its type in the state,” Shkolnick said. “We couldn’t have done it without the continued generous support of the Nebraska Environmental Trust.”
