LINCOLN — Zoo Lights Powered by LES is back for 2021 with one of the Midwest's largest 100% LED light shows. This annual holiday event runs 5:30-9 p.m. Nov. 26 to Dec. 30. Since partnering in 2019 with the Lincoln Children's Zoo to bring the inaugural Zoo Lights Powered by LES to our community, the utility has included educational opportunities to engage with eventgoers and help our customer-owners in the community get the most out of their energy usage.
LES will once again be hosting Energy Nights at the event. LES Energy Nights allow eventgoers and local customer-owners to engage with volunteers from the utility who can answer energy-related questions, provide useful tips, and demonstrate points with a handmade, model gingerbread house on display.
"While enjoying all your favorite attractions this year, we invite you to learn a little more about ways you can save energy, too. Be sure to stop by our display during Energy Nights at Zoo Lights Powered by LES to meet some of the local people powering the community," said McKenzie Ferguson, education and outreach specialist at LES. "Along with the dancing trees, rainbow tunnel, white lights walk and more, don't forget to take your photos with our life-sized LES lineworker nutcrackers, Volts and Watts."
Throughout the event, LES is hosting five Energy Nights at Zoo Lights, running 5:30-9 p.m. each night:
- Friday, Dec. 3
- Friday, Dec. 10
- Friday, Dec. 17
- Saturday, Dec. 18
- Wednesday, Dec. 22
The zoo continues to work closely with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department and will be following all health mandates required at the time of the event.
