Investing in the community

At LES, our commitment to community goes well beyond providing a safe, reliable and affordable supply of electricity.

LES' 2021 payment in lieu of taxes
$
12600000

The payment in lieu of taxes, required by the city charter, represents 5 percent of the previous calendar year’s retail electric revenue from the cities LES serves. Lincoln Public Schools and local governments receive the payment from LES based on their proportionate share of property tax rates.

My focus on the communications team is our internal communication efforts. I like the variety of projects I work on and strategizing new ways to connect with employees. The most exciting part of the job is learning new tools and platforms that help simplify a message and its delivery.

Internet-connected thermostats provide convenience and comfort while helping customers save energy. By enrolling in LES Peak Rewards, customers can help the community delay the need for another generating resource and that benefits everyone.

I love that LES put this program together. It's so important to save energy and help the environment. And a little incentive back doesn't hurt at all. Thanks!

Thanks so much to the people on the poles in the dark, late at night, and in terrible wind, too. I so appreciate their commitment to the people in Lincoln — and I really appreciate my electricity tonight.

Thank you for restoring power to our home and neighborhood last evening! We are very grateful for your quick response and the professionalism of your representatives in resolving the problem. When power is automatically at your disposal, we take it for granted. But when without, it definitely sheds a “light” on how blessed we really are.

A streetlight was installed almost at the end of my driveway and I love it. It lights up my front driveway, garage and house doors, car and all. I really sleep well now feeling secure from this light. I don’t know who was in charge to get this project done, but they did a great job. God bless.

My career at LES has been from intern to full time, all within the Power Supply Division. I was attracted to this job as an intern due to the various plants and projects I could work on. My job has led to my focus on various subsystems of the generation stations.

My passion is helping people and hopefully making their day at work less stressful. If you can walk away with your technology problem solved and feeling better, then I have achieved my goal.

I've gotten to work in many roles at LES from equipment mechanic to heavy equipment operator to where I am today as Transportation manager. It's important to me to do everything we can to make sure our internal customers have the latest equipment available to perform their jobs for our external customers.
