Community

Investing in the community

At LES, our commitment to community goes well beyond providing a safe, reliable and affordable supply of electricity.

LES' 2021 payment in lieu of taxes
$
12600000

The payment in lieu of taxes, required by the city charter, represents 5 percent of the previous calendar year’s retail electric revenue from the cities LES serves. Lincoln Public Schools and local governments receive the payment from LES based on their proportionate share of property tax rates.

Keeping everyone SAFE in a dangerous environment is a priority for me. I'm also passionate about my people, ensuring they have the support, tools, environment and training to do their jobs. I've found that if you let people know what you expect out of them, and if you give them what they need to succeed, they will rise to those expectations and beyond!

The community and environment of the company make LES a great place to work. What I'm passionate about doing at work is the problem solving and creative thinking involved in my job when I'm tackling a new problem or relaying information to others.

Internet-connected thermostats provide convenience and comfort while helping customers save energy. By enrolling in LES Peak Rewards, customers can help the community delay the need for another generating resource and that benefits everyone.

I love that LES put this program together. It's so important to save energy and help the environment. And a little incentive back doesn't hurt at all. Thanks!

Thanks so much to the people on the poles in the dark, late at night, and in terrible wind, too. I so appreciate their commitment to the people in Lincoln — and I really appreciate my electricity tonight.

Thank you for restoring power to our home and neighborhood last evening! We are very grateful for your quick response and the professionalism of your representatives in resolving the problem. When power is automatically at your disposal, we take it for granted. But when without, it definitely sheds a “light” on how blessed we really are.

A streetlight was installed almost at the end of my driveway and I love it. It lights up my front driveway, garage and house doors, car and all. I really sleep well now feeling secure from this light. I don’t know who was in charge to get this project done, but they did a great job. God bless.

My career at LES has been from intern to full time, all within the Power Supply Division. I was attracted to this job as an intern due to the various plants and projects I could work on. My job has led to my focus on various subsystems of the generation stations.

While searching for new employment, I was interested in a position that included a variety of duties. I was able to find this at LES, working with subject matter experts to develop trainings and professionally coaching employees to reach their goals. I love being able to work with someone and see their "aha" moments.

My job allows me to move around the building and grounds where I get to meet and work with many people. I really enjoy helping my co-workers with projects they're assigned – it makes me feel good that the work I do provides a service to others so they can do their jobs.
