Community

Investing in the community

At LES, our commitment to community goes well beyond providing a safe, reliable and affordable supply of electricity.

LES' 2022 payment in lieu of taxes
$
12700000

The payment in lieu of taxes, required by the city charter, represents 5% of the previous calendar year’s retail electric revenue from the cities LES serves. Lincoln Public Schools and local governments receive the payment from LES based on their proportionate share of property tax rates.

My career at LES has been very diverse, and our environmental team performs work all across our service territory. I am passionate about reducing the environmental impact of our work and about making a contribution to both LES and the community we serve.

Internet-connected thermostats provide convenience and comfort while helping customers save energy. By enrolling in LES Peak Rewards, customers can help the community delay the need for another generating resource and that benefits everyone.

I love that LES put this program together. It's so important to save energy and help the environment. And a little incentive back doesn't hurt at all. Thanks!

Thanks so much to the people on the poles in the dark, late at night, and in terrible wind, too. I so appreciate their commitment to the people in Lincoln — and I really appreciate my electricity tonight.

Thank you for restoring power to our home and neighborhood last evening! We are very grateful for your quick response and the professionalism of your representatives in resolving the problem. When power is automatically at your disposal, we take it for granted. But when without, it definitely sheds a “light” on how blessed we really are.

A streetlight was installed almost at the end of my driveway and I love it. It lights up my front driveway, garage and house doors, car and all. I really sleep well now feeling secure from this light. I don’t know who was in charge to get this project done, but they did a great job. God bless.

I believe what makes LES a great place to work is I not only get to do my job to the best of my ability, but employees are also allowed the opportunity to volunteer and participate in many of the LES-organized activities which give back to our community.

Living in Lincoln, I was familiar with LES — not just as the electric company in town, but a company that supported the community in events and programs to educate families on how to save on their electricity bills. These things attracted me to work at LES, and in my role today, I enjoy identifying improvements to keep the system working safely and efficiently.

If I had a chance to change anything in my career path, I wouldn’t. I have been fortunate to be able to progress within LES and now work with a super-talented team that uses innovation to support our customers' needs from power generation down to the meter.
