LES customer lobby to close July 31

LINCOLN, Neb. (July 9, 2026) — Lincoln Electric System is reminding customers that the utility’s customer lobby at the Walter A. Canney Service Center, 2620 Fairfield St., will permanently close July 31, 2026. Monday, Aug. 3, will be the first business day the lobby is no longer open to the public.

LES announced the decision in February to provide customers time to transition to other convenient ways to manage their accounts and make payments. The change reflects evolving customer preferences, with most customers already using online, phone and alternative payment options.

“Our focus throughout this transition has been making sure customers know their options and feel prepared before the lobby closes,” said Heather Schlautman, LES manager of Customer Care. “Customers are increasingly choosing to manage their accounts digitally or over the phone, and we continue to offer several flexible, convenient ways to access our services.”

Customers can continue managing their utility services through the following options:

  • Online: Customers can pay bills, start or stop service and manage accounts 24/7 at MyAccount.LES.com.
  • Phone Support: Customers can speak with a customer service representative Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 402.475.4211. The same number also offers an automated payment option.
  • Mail: Customers may mail checks or money orders with their bill stub to LES, P.O. Box 2986, Omaha, NE 68103-2986.
  • Walmart Bill Pay: Customers can pay bills at any Walmart customer service desk nationwide using Walmart Bill Pay (not CheckFree). Payments post immediately, and cash or debit card is accepted. The closest Walmart location is about one mile from the current LES customer lobby.
  • Drop Box: Customers can place checks and money orders in the secure payment drop box at the Walter A. Canney Service Center, 2620 Fairfield St.

Customers who currently rely on in-person lobby services are encouraged to set up and test another payment or account management option before July 31.

"While the lobby is closing, our commitment to customers is not changing,” Schlautman said. “Our customer care team will continue helping customers over the phone and through the service options customers already use every day. We remain committed to making sure every customer can access the support they need.”

The closure will not affect customers’ electric service, bill schedules or available payment options. LES employees who currently assist customers in the lobby will transition to serving customers remotely.

The public lobby opened in May 2021 following the closure of the former LES downtown customer service location at 11th and O streets, which had operated since 1987.
